Icor International has been providing Digital signage solutions for over 10 years. When the digital signage market just opened it was merely an idea working off the fact that once printed advertising is published, by the time it hit the public, it was old news. more than a decade ago, manufacturers realized that by providing advertisements and signage ina digital format, it would not only help the environment by saving trees, but also allow content providers the ability to keep more current data on display. Although it was a great idea, the problem was the hardware to provide this digital signage was very expensive. Most manufacturers relied on hardware originally intended for broadcast television character generation to get the acceptable end results. With this being said, only a select customers or institutions had the available budgetary requirements to jump onto this new technology.
Our company has been there from the very beginning, obtaining experience with most of these solutions that are out on the market today. Not only are there more manufacturers to choose from, but there are some solutions better than others as the cost of hardware has dropped considerably, it is more affordable for smaller businesses to achieve the same results as a fortune 5oo company.
Now with solutions that not only offer real time data insertion like real time weather or flight information, but there are interactive solutions that sense movement, audience retention, interactivity between the audience and the signage. With certified programmers on staff we have been able to custom develop unique solutions to address unique needs while thinking ahead to provide an integration only seen in mission critical applications. This means literally no failures or down time.
- Retail Signage
- Houses of Worship
- Transportation
- Bars and Night Clubs
- Public information – news, weather and local (location specific) information, such as fire exits and traveler information
- Internal information – corporate messages, health & safety, news, etc.
- Advertising – either related to the location the signage is in or just using the audience reach of the screens for general advertising
- Brand building – in-store digital signage to promote the brand and build a brand identity
- Influencing customer behavior – directing customers to different areas, increasing the dwell time on the store premises
- Enhancing customer experience – applications include the reduction of perceived wait time in restaurant waiting areas, bank queues, etc., as well as recipe demonstrations in food stores
- Enhancing the environment – with interactive screens (in the floor for example) or with dynamic wayfinding
Understanding the ROI – studies have shown digital signage to be effective in aiding customer recall and retention of displayed information in large-scale merchandising applications, especially taking into account the downward trend in LCD panel and playback device prices. Today a small-scale retail or restaurant digital signage installation can be implemented for just $1,500-2,000 using inexpensive hardware.
Open networks (with Internet access) can be updated remotely and stream data from other Internet sources (such as RSS feeds). The availability and type of Internet access (wireless, broadband, etc.) depends on the location and client.
Technologies such as IPTV allow digital signage to be used as a method of broadcasting. The content is played according to instructions provided by play lists controlled by the digital signage system content management server. Convergence between digital signage and broadcasting allows for real-time distribution of broadcast sources (TV) on a narrowcast network (digital signage).
Some signs use 3D displays that operate using a technology called autostereoscopy, which allow the viewer to see a 3D image without using special glasses.
